My aggressive journey to say a few words. (AKA) I'll be saying stuff that won't matter to many of you but it'll ALL mean something to me.

I hate some of the t.v. I watch sometimes. I find myself watching things I really shouldn't. Just yesterday, I found that I was watching SpongeBobSquarepants and there was a part where he's playing hay in a needle stack with the squirel.

Then it hit me that of all the "stupid" cartoons I've watched this is one of the very few that I can't stand. How can I honestly enjoy watching a show that seems to promote homosexuality. Seriously, if you don't see it you haven't watched the show for more than ten minutes.

Where will it stop? Sponge Bob and Patrick are just getting way too close. I don't really have a "grudge" against homosexuality exactly but I don't like that there is a child's cartoon on that shows a couple of guys doing those kinds of things and then saying that it's funny(?). I'm sorry, but that's not funny.

If I decided to make a cartoon about slavery and how "funny" it can be does that make it a good subject to portrait to kids. Or not even go that far. Just to say that there were good things brought about by slavery, IMO, would be a sick way of finding cheap entertainment and kids shouldn't be shown that sort of thing.

Isn't this about the same? I guess, if you don't see homosexuality as something that serious then you wouldn't mind but I do and I really think the show should be, at least, taken off of daytime t.v. when children are most likely to watch it.

Capt. over and out!

Did I miss something in the latest season of SpongeBob? I realize that the character and the show is very popular in the gay community, but when did this show become a cartoon about homosexuality? Really? I've watched it. It's one of the few childrens shows that I actually watch, enjoy, and think is great for kids. I don't see Patrick and Sponge Bob as being gay at all. They are neighbors and best friends as near as I can tell. In fact, I've always thought that Sponge Bob was sweet on Sandy.

Unless, like I said, there's something in the new season that I haven't seen. I haven't watched in a while. Some of my friends took their kids to see the movie on Thanksgiving. We talked about the movie before they went and not once did the topic of gay come up. I think that you may be reading too much into this or misinterpreting the fact that the gay community likes the character as the show being about homosexuality. I think that if there were definite links to homosexual acts that Nick would probably be pressured (and would bow to it) to pull the show. I could be wrong, though.

I totally agree about the whole SpongeBob thing. I'll admit I used to watch it. But come on that was in 6th grade! I hardly knew a thing about homosexuality then. But now I can't stand watching it. It's always on at my house because of my two younger brothers who watch it. But they don't know about homosexuality yet. I guess I could explain it to the 12yr old brother, but I feel that's not something I should be telling him. I'll leave that up to someone else. I can't tell my 7yr old brother though, I don't think he'd understand. It just urks me whenever that show is on! Urgh! I wish they'd take it off t.v. There are far better childrens shows than that to be playing. I thought Spongebob was the coolest thing on the t.v. when i was in 6th grade, but now......it's just gross!

Insightful Capt!

Capt. -- your hypothesis is insane. It's an innocent children's show.

I really don't know what I'm missing here, but can either of you cite examples and tell me what makes the characters gay? I'm just not getting this when I see the show. I'm 33 (34 tomorrow) and don't understand what's gay about this. Like I said, the fact that the character is popular with the gay community doesn't make the character/show gay.

It's an innocent children's show

That's what I see.

Spongebob and Patrick are hilarious. I don't understand why you two think they're gay.

Did you used to watch Pee Wee's Playhouse? Will & Grace? Even if Sponge and Pat ARE gay (which I seriously doubt, they're just friends for pete's sake), it's for entertainment purposes. Like carebear said, she didn't know much about homosexuality in 6th grade. The typical viewers are elementary school children, do you think they know any more than carebear did? Not to mention, if they are gay, do you think they could learn about the homosexual culture just from Spongebob? I don't think so. The average American doesn't bother to learn about gay culture, but then again, the average American is only educated up through 6th grade!

That is an excellent observation. Insightfuls all around!

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Even better! I'm going to hunt down another comment/article by you and give you an extra Insightful, since this comment can only get one!

Yes, like your mother. That's what she's there for - parents should be aware of what they're children are watching - like Texas who watches with her children. You can read whatever you like into ANYTHING!!!!! - You can find homosexual references in anything if you look hard enough.
It's a kids show, children like it and adults do too possibly because they either see the innocence in it and it reminds them of being a child - or like you they see the adult content etc

Your brothers are children - they're going to be forced to grow up soon enough (especially the 12 yo) let them enjoy being children before you go revealing the secrets of the real world.

Brandon, perhaps you're looking too hard into this....There's only one episode that I can recall that appears kind of gay...and that involved trying to fly and spandex.....but I haven't seen if for quite some time. If you pay that much attention to the show then you'll realize every show targeted towards young children appear so very, very gay....though some have more adult innuendos if you listen....

My Verdict- SpongeBob isn't gay, he's just really spastic.

I don't think Spongebob is gay. I never got that vibe at all. I think he is funny. Besides did you miss the one where he told Sandy the Squirrel (mammal) that in case she didn't notice he was all ma-male. It was hilarious and very not gay. I think people just are so homophobic that they see it everywhere. Like when they tried to say Bert and Ernie are gay - they aren't gay they're muppets. Or when they acted like LOTR and Band of Brothers was gay. I don't understand why you can't have men show affection, love and friendship to each other without assuming they are gay. It's just insane. It reminds me of when I was in first grade and a big kid told me I was gay because I was holding hands with my friend. I didn't even know what gay was but I knew I shouldn't be holding hands with my friends anymore - in the first grade!!!

Are you sure?

And you dont have a grudge against homosexuality? Hmm interesting.

From my observation of your writing in JU Capt. I would seriously consider you having a problem with your own sexuality. It really shows. People who dont have a problem with it dont make a fuss about it. Hiding behind the christian thing doesnt wash with me sorry.

I'm sorry to say, but Brandon isn't gay. I know for a fact. Just because he wants to disscuss the matter doesn't mean he is. What is the matter with wanting to state your opinion or what if you want to know what others think? Is that a problem? I didn't think so. So does that make me a lesbian just because I agree with him and I talk about it? huh? Yeah, that's what I thought. I'm not a lesbian and I'm not using the Christian thing to hide behind anything and neither is Brandon. So there.....neither me nor Brandon are homosexuals. Why can't we just put our opinions with out getting called gay or something?

Oh Andy~ Trust me, you'd be suprised at what some of these younger kids know! My 12yr old brother knows a lot more about somethings than you'd expect him to know. So maybe kids that do know about this kind of stuff might think that when they see SpongeBob that it's ok to be that way.

Ashley - you don't know anything for a fact! Why do you always put yourself in any situation involving Brandon or vice-versa, PB didn't mention you

Why do you guys (most of you ACguild) start these controversial points whoring blogs when you're not mature enough to participate in real debate about these topics?

I never watch the idiot box anymore. I do find Will and Grace Hilarious, oh pork. I would also like to say that no matter what you watch on the idiot box you are promoting something bad. In the bible it say that no one sin is greater than the other, so if you watch say a murder show are you promoting that, or i mean sex is everywhere on tv nowdays, gay or straight before marriage it's still bad so you are just as bad if you watch a primetime sitcom as if you watch Will and Grace (wait that is a primetime sitcom) and Spongebob in his homosexuality escapades. SO GIVE UP TV LIKE ME> actually i don't really care what you do so long as you feel good about what you're doing.
