My aggressive journey to say a few words. (AKA) I'll be saying stuff that won't matter to many of you but it'll ALL mean something to me.

Ok, so I'm spoiled rotten, I admit it. It's just that if I'm not being spoiled, there's something wrong. I think it had a lot to do with my mom being mad at me for what I've done in the past year, pretty much nothing.

I got a Triple Action Web-blaster, Superchic[k] cd, Spider-man t-shirt, cheap little camera, 135 dollars, Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy X, two Hawiian shirts, and a bunch of Birthday cards.

Maybe it's just me, but I think they were holding back on me. Usually, I get at least 3 video games, a big toy, a board game, around 100 dollars, and a new gaming system (portable or console). That's typically what I get. I just felt like I didn't get all that I usually do. My mom bought two gifts for me, where my dad and a group of people I hardly know, bought me all the rest.

Then, after all those things are reveiled, someone takes me somewhere to show me the "big" gift. Last year it was a car, the year before it was a PS2, and the year before that was a new mountain bike. Do you get it now? I expect a pretty big gift after it's all said and done. Did I get that? No. I think it's just because 17 is a boring number that no one cares about.

Now, this would be the perfect time to give me the "kids these days" speech... Or maybe you could yell at me for being so rude... Or even to say that I'm just a peasent that thinks he's spoiled, and that I should just shut my trap.

If my opinion counts, I don't think your spoiled. I get a lot of crap for my birthday too. This year (16) i got a car, and some money, and that was about it. I freaked out. I thought I did something wrong. I think it's just in our minds. ... anyways.. I feel spoiled now too. man... that sucks..

What are you talking about? Being spoiled rules! People expect you to be a scum bag because of it. Then you give 'em a load of junk and thing it's just because you want to look good. Having it good makes it so easy to give and not expect anything back...

True, very true. . .
Having it good makes it so easy to give and not expect anything back...

That makes sense!! being spoiled does rule. . .I like it a weebit too much. lol.. I can't help myself. Anyways, in my house, Being spoiled is the "bad" thing, I never understood that though, I think its just because my sibblings like to make it look bad so I feel bad. *shakes her head* I'm confusing myself lol...

I think I might need to add you to my friends list..

Before you go and make me a friend...

Let me tell you, I'm a geek and a nerd. If that's a problem for you...

Anyhow, I think it's just because they don't know how to be spoiled. Like in my case, I just kinda don't ask for too many expensive things until the time's just right. My sisters just ask away, then they don't get much when it counts. *Nods his head* I got what you were saying, I think...

Happy birthday...

And you are spoiled, if you can't appreciate the things you did get, maybe you can find someone who would, instead of whining. I don't mean to be harsh, but there are a lot of people that don't get anything on their birthday or any day.
Plus your parents bought you a car, I mean c'mon thats already pretty spoiled, and you are expecting extravagent gifts every year.

Maybe the gift you should give your self this year is the realization you are only a year from being an adult and that life is hard, but it is more rewarding when you work for things you want, not just have them handed to you when you expect them.

Thank you Janders. So, bringing up a subject like this does get to people to the point where they have to try and make it seem wrong that I have giving parents.

I just have one thing to add to what I said earlier... I typically either share or give most of my gifts to my friends and family. I only keep the most important of my gifts for myself, such as the car. The video games end up with a friend or relative before I even get used to the game, half the time.

And thanks for the late birthday statement. j/k When's your's?

I am not saying it is wrong to have giving parents. I think it is wrong to EXPECT it, and not appreciate what you do get...

I am all for giving, but I am also for appreciation, your parents don't owe you anything, so you should appreciate the gifts they give you instead of whining about whining about what they did not give you. I NEVER said it was wrong that you have giving parents.

Oh and my B-day was June 11.

That's like right before my nephew's B-day! He's gotta be the coolest little kid I know.

I'm sorry if I made it seem like I wasn't greatful, honestly, I didn't ask for anything for my birthday, usually I just get what I ask for and that's it, I got a whole lot more than I should've this year. Basically, I wanted this to be a boring year because my sisters are always down my throat about how much my mom and dad buy for me.

My mom and dad kinda compete for my love though now. I'm assuming that's why they bought what I didn't even ask for... They got divorced a few years ago so now they buy all kinds of things for us out of nowhere. I guess that's why I expected it. My mom bought the car and my dad bought the PS2 and mountain bike.

P.S.~ Sorry, I never got to wish you a happy birthday, that's always fun to wish upon people, IMO.

I dont know if this thread was a joke or not Cap'n... You are very fortunate, and if your dissapointment is brilliant satire, then I commend you...

I dont really have to point out what people don't have... I guess your parent's only have themselves to blame for setting your expectations... When i was a young lad, I was happy with a solitary transformer givin with a smile and a hug!!!

Your birthday is a celebration of your coming into the world, and I hope you celebrated with gusto! gifts are of no consequence whatsoever!!! but you already knew this right?

BAM!!!

Muggaz.. I guess you could say this one was more of a joke because I just wanted to see what you (people) would say if I complained about my birthday. Of course, those are the gifts I got and I really do usually give a lot of my stuff away. The joking part was me actually making it seem like I didn't like my birthday. In fact, it was one of my favorites because my parents worried more about just being with me than buying a bunch of junk that I won't keep for long anyways.

Do you remember which transformer you got?

Yeah, that's kinda what it was like for me when my parents were together... I just got a couple things to play with and the typical cake and birthday spankings...

The last transformer i remember receiving for a birthday was WheelJack...

I usually got one every birthday and Christmas... So did my brother... we had quite a collection going... of course, they are all busted and in pieces now, because they are transformers, and they can really fly out of trees etc... hehe, or so we thought

I don't think it has as much to do with 17 being a "boring" number as it does with 17 being nearly an adult, and therefore able to provide more for yourself. When you're a kid, parents use your birthday as an excuse to give you things that they would probably get for your anyway, and just lump a bunch of them together....as you get closer to adulthood, we expect you to provide more of that stuff for yourself, and so we start backing off a bit. Heck, I used to get tons of stuff for my birthday, too...these days I get a check in the mail, and that's it.....but it's the thought that counts, not the amount of presents. No one HAS to get you ANYTHING!!!

What would that matter??? If I make you a friend, its because I think you are a nice guy and that I'd like to get to know you some more.. not because of what you are, but because of who you are....

That's what I'm saying. The geek and nerd in me is who I am. My nickname at school is Batman, I go by Capt. Cornbread too. That's where I got the name. I spend around 100 dollars on stuff like Playing cards and Comic books each month. And that's on a month that I don't feel like spending a lot of money.

I guess it's cool that you weren't worried about my titles. Most people think I'm a freak because of that stuff. Typically, I do my own thing and don't worry about what others think. It's just that if you would think certain things about me, for being who/what I am, than so be it.
