the band is back from florida and my article about it is the 150th
So, there has been a few details given about the band's trip, to Walt Disney World in Orlando, so far, but I want to give even more so people aren't filling in too many blanks for themselves.
As Shaun said, within about 15 minutes of getting to our Motel we are hit by a car. I'm not sure of the make but from what I saw it wasn't too bad of a car. It hit us as it went through a red light and smacked into the back of our bus. I hate to ruin the suprise, but the bus rides don't die off there. We'll get to the other story later.
The order of which we went to each of the parks in Orlando is unclear to me, but I'll still try to hit each one for you.
On the first day we ate a "buffet" breakfast ate the motel. I'm sorry, but that was horrible. I was the kid who ate from 5-10 pancakes a day at band camp, and I couldn't handle these one's. The eggs tasted like cardboard, the bacon reminded me of a really old french fry pulled out of the trunk of a car, and the "sausage" was well, sausagey. I really don't know what else to call it. You had to pay for your O.J. (in Florida even) and the milk , i think, was 2%, so depending on your preference would determine how you felt about that one.
We went to the water park afterward. What is it called? Glacier Island I think. Oh well. That was fun. Even with certain reasons for not wanting to go I convinced Sarah to go down one of the slides with us (Alex, Ashley, Shaun, and I). When I got to the bottom I let go of my inertube so I had to try to get it. Obviously, I took too long to do so because as I was about to get ahold of it the guy behind me flies out of the tunnel and rams right into my tube. Just inches away from my arm I started freaking out and everything, it was hilarious. It's just that it was here one second and then gone the next.
Later we just sat around and talked so for the most part that was the event at the water park.
Everyone was assigned a group to walk around with everywhere but at the water park and the beach. The group I was in was Shaun/zoologist03, Alex/deathbybeebles, Peter/Piper, and me/Captain Cornbread (of course). Alex's dad was suposed to be our chaperone but he got sick the night before I think so he didn't get to go. He's a farmer so you can imagine what it would look like to see him in shorts, I can imagine. Alex's YOUNGER twin brother asked me to take a picture of his dad in the but I sadly didn't get to as you could probably guess. Instead our assistant band director became our chaperone. For the whole rest of the week she was now refered to as the new Mr. Hoffman.
Umm... Epcot. Yeah, Epcot was cool. They have this space simulation called Spaceship Earth (right?) where you're in a group to try and pilot this ship all the way to mars. I wanted to see if this really was something where we had control so everytime the comander said to press a button I press it about 2 seconds too early or not press it all. Nothing happened.
I forgot though. Before you got on the "spaceship" they tell you that if you turn your head to the side more move it up or down they you may get disoriented and Shaun almost reflexively says you'll die right before they say what happens and then the guy in the ship beside us said you'll spontaneously combust. It may not seem funny to you but just imagine them coming over the speakers saying, "Please do not move your head to either side, up, or down, because it may cause death/ spontaneous-combustion."
After we were done I bought a space helmet. I can understand but don't think of this when I see it, but everyone kept saying that it looked like I had a condom on my head. I guess from the back it looks really obvious too.
The second time we went to Epcot Alex got sick so the rest of the group (Shaun, Peter, and I) all went with our band director's group for the rest of the time and boy was that odd. It wasn't very long but I think we already got on her nerves. During that short amount of time though, these guys decided to be jerks and try to mess with me for wearing the helmet. Boy, I so wish that they would have just been a little more persistant because if they had, their moomoo's would have been shoved up their a-holes and they'd be a bloody mess if they didn't shut up. Four of the biggest guys in our band (Shaun being one of the biggest guys in our school period) were standing there waiting for them to keep talking, but sinse Ms. Meyer was there I had to be good.
The Beach. That was cool. Shaun and I were standing in the sand right near the edge of the water and as it ran over our feet we'd twist around a bit trying to sink lower into the sand. Eventually, we sunk a good 6 inches in the sand and the smaller (no that's not a bad thing) band members were about our height.
The Animal Kingdom. Wow, that was awesome! The tree of life kicked so much butt and the bugs life movie was pretty cool too. Afterward the movie, which was 3-D, we had to put our glasses back. We did, but about 15 minutes later I ran across a pair laying out on top of a trash can. Being the packrat that I am, I kept those glasses.
The jungle tour at the Animal Kingdom was really cool. Well, the animals were cool. The tour was kinda fruity. We were "rescuing little red from the poachers."
Magic KIngdom. This is where we had the parade. The coolest part is that the parade was canceled as the bands got done so we WERE the parade itself. That's pretty cool, and you know it don't you? It was canceled because of rain and all this time Ohio was getting snowed on, so I guess that either way I went I'd be stuck having a bad time inside.
I can't seem to remember where it was but Peter thought it would be funny to tell us that we wouldn't get wet on one of the rides we went on and turned out that we were most wet after riding that one than anyother ride that day. And yes, we were mad because Alex and I both had a lot of nice electrical devices in our bags that we were carrying around like cd players, cellphones, and handheld gaming systems. Oh, and digital cameras too.
There's so much to talk about but I am going to atleast say that if you haven't been to Disney World or if you just haven't gone to see Phiharmagic or Fanatasmic I would strongly recomend doing so. Philharmagic is an amazing 3-D movie and Fantasmic is a suprisingly good play.
Alright. Well, I've taken enough time up so I'll stop. If you'd like more details I'll be glad to share them later but I'm going to stop there. Oh yeah... I almost forgot. This is my 150th article that I still have. Thanks for being there for me everyone. It's really nice to know that there are some people (from my school) who are big enough to move away from the drama and just keep writing the good stuff. Thank you.
I'll talk to you all later. No, let me try that again... I'll talk to Alex, Shaun, Ashley, Sarah, Kendra, Jeffers, and MAYBE Stacey and Sam later.
Capt. over and out!
